Hemi in an e-body

I'm gearing up to put a hemi in a 70 Cuda. I first see the e-body is alittle wider :D This will help. The car was originally a Vcode 440 6-pack. The car is very modified (Firewall cut for engine set back using motor plate, Steering removed and replaced with a 70-72 Mustang rack & pinion and move...

540 crate confirmed by NHRA

I received an e-mail from John Miller of NHRA confirming the 540 is not a production engine thus not acceptable in any Stock/Super Stock class.

The new 540 is posted

http://www.mopar.com/muscle/whatshot.htm I'm checking with NHRA to see what classes allows this hemi. Since no aluminum block was available in the earlier years I'm gussing all of Stock and most of Super Stock will not allow.

440

Alot of the fit problems with the 440 to an A-body is if you use aftermarket hemi heads to the 440. The heads are wider and with the diffrence in header tube angles it gets tight. I agree with Crazy on the rear-end. I would find and use a Dana 60. Anything bigger then the Dana is aftermarket and $$$...

I agree with MAX on 440

A 440 with stage 5 aluminum heads is the way to go. (most bang for the buck) Being a Duster is an A-body Mopar you will battle with some room issues. Most of the Super Stockers hammer in the shock towers to make room for the headers when using a hemi head. There are many who have done what you are l...

I see allot of folks have past this question by. After thinking about how to phrase I see why. Siamese bored blocks are not brand new they have been around for awhile. A Siamese bore is where the cylinders are sharing sleeve medal thus the outer cylinder sleeves are touching. The advantage of Siames...

Problems with crates

Problems with crate’s is certainly not limited to Chryslers. My friends in the Chevy world are reporting the same thing with Chevy crates. The word is that "crate motors" (although are to spec) are not built with premium parts. I'm willing to bet any crate hemi does not come with a billet ...

540 Crate

On November 3rd at the 2004 SEMA show Chrysler announced a new Aluminum 540 crate hemi. As of today this engine doesn't seem to exist. I have exhasted my Chrysler and Mopar Performance contacts with no answers.

Has anyone heard the status of this engine?
