Re: Shaker hood
Where did you get it from ? I'd try the suppliers first, and, if no success, try the likes of Year One.
Somewhere in the recesses of my mind I think the likes of Mopar Muscle magazine, and High Performance Mopar (are they still going ?) have cover this. Try them too.
Good luck !

Mike, I didn't think the DC book covered the early Hemi's. Try the Tex Smith book, The Complete Hemi Manual. Link on Amazon.com: http://www.amazon.com/Complete-Chrysler-Hemi-Engine-Manual/dp/1878772015/ref=sr_1_fkmr2_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1320604708&sr=1-1-fkmr2 It should answer all your...

Re: Hemi crate motor problems continued
Is that Hemi really as tight as it looks ? I know they weren't a loose fit in the A-bodies, but that doesn't look as if there's room for the engine to move under throttle response !
Neat though !

Have you tried contacting AEV - Link: http://www.aev-conversions.com/
They do Hemi's into Jeeps, so they must encountered this before. They might recommend some websites too for V8 Jeep conversions.

Intersting, powerful, but not that cheap ....
Will they make a kit for the Ram 1600, the one that the majority of Hemi's go in ?

Alan,
There's a couple of UK contacts you could try:
http://www.iceautomotive.co.uk/
http://www.jeffbullraceengines.co.uk/
I'm not trying to complicate things, it's just that you might not get the answers you need straight away.
Good luck, and keep us posted !

Doc, This is a little weird, baring in mind that you've no knowledge of the Durango being raced. I wonder what happened before you owned it though .... Anyway, Hot Rod Magazine has just done a feature on tuning/breakage problems with the Gen. III Hemi, it's transmissions (auto & manual) and (car...

If they'd only put it a Dodge Ram 1500 ! Now that would be sweet ! Anyone know what HP Kenny Wayne Shepherd's Gen III Hemi powered 60's Dodge put out ? It was running cat's/emissions controls, and I just wondered if that would transfer to an SRT8 engine. Then again, perhaps I should just look at the...

Re: Lets talk trannys
From a stock point of view, the A518 is the stronger unit. But, people such as SMR Transmissions have gone to an awlful lot of trouble to negate any weaknesses in the original design of either transmission. Your best bet is to talk with them. Remember that the A904 based o/d is physically smaller, s...

Had a chance to do some research, and came up with the following information on early Hemi engines to later Mopar (and other marques in some cases) transmissions: SMR Transmissions - scroll down the page for the info on A904 and A727 three speed and o/d versions from them. They also have upgrades fo...

Re: Lets talk trannys
There were adapters to fit the A904 based OD unit, the A500 (?). I think T. R. Waters was one supplier of them. Not sure about the physical dimensions though,. It might be quite bulky compared to the original 904, as the OD part was an add-on to the original design. Do Bouchillon Performance do thes...
