I guess there are two ways. If the engine can be idled slow, You can adjust while running. Back off untill it clicks and tighten up some. There is a spec for the clearance at the valve with the lifter collapsed. I think it is .06 to .21. You would have to pull the pushrods and drain the lifters.This...

The long tubes are for a DeSoto. Chrysler tubes are the same as Dodge. HotHeads sell them new.

Yes, You need to use studs if you ever want to pull the covers with water in the block. I think all 6 go into the water but maybe just the three bottom ones.

Water Pump rebuild kits

Anybody know where to buy some 241-270 Dodge water pump rebuild kits?
I don't want to run the chevy pump and the original pumps are getting old. Would like a fresh kit. Thanks.

I have found hardened exhaust seats in every 270 head I've torn down. I have not seen any in any of the 241 heads.

The 315-325 heads will not fit a 241-270. The pushrod holes are angled wrong and will not allow the pushrods to hit the lifters. The 270 heads are a slight improvement but do have hardened seats. Grind down the humps around the intake guides to make them flow like the 325 heads.

Really nothing interchanges. The lifters and valve keepers and some front covers is about all. The 241 will make good power but not 500HP. It's main problem is shrouding around the titake valve bosses. The 325's finially got a flat passage around the boss and the power went way up. I would look for ...

In depends on what kind of bellhousing/adapter you will use. If you buy the HotHeads setup with the special flywheel, you will use a late model Chrysler starter with it. You can use any Chrysler,Dodge or Desoto flywheel(yes even the 6's)with your starter but must find an old adapter or like I did an...

The starters from other 56? and on hemi and poly engines will fit and work. The only question is when they switched to 12 volts. I ran a 241 on 6 volts for years with no problems. The basic starters are all the same and will interchange.

The block is fine the way it is . No modification to the block is needed or possible. The problem is entirely in the heads. If you look at the heads, you see that there is just a slightly oversise hole for the pushrods to go thru. The holes would need to be enlongated so the pushrods could lineup wit...

Hello all, The rocker geometry is the same. The problem is that the push rods do not come straight up but are angled. The cam is well above the crank but the pushrods end right over the center of the cylinders. When the deck was raised the angle of the pushrods was changed.Chrysler widened the deck ...

I tried to put 270 heads on a 315 HEMI block. The pushrod holes did not line up and the push rods could not be installed. I did not try to see if something could be welded or cut to make it work. It appeared to me that it was going to be a big and probably unworkable exercise.

Dodge intake manifold

I had a thought that a good manifold for the 241/270 could also be used on the 315/325 by using spacer plates like are used when 354 heads are used on 392's. It is not done now because the are no good manifolds for the small engines!

241 dodge mount

I built a Hurst style mount for my 241 by tapping out the two lower front cover holes on both sides to 3/8 I've run this for 12 years with no problems. I don't see why it would not work with a chevy pump.

Would like single four for the low deck Dodge. A modern 180 high-rise would wake up these engines! Would also love to be able to buy the old Crager/Offy 0401 trans addapter for all the short bell-housing engines to the early Ford thans. I use one with a flathead to chevy adapter to get early Ford cl...
