Re: Brand New Rebuilt/Repopped '68 Hemi Darts!

Yuo know, it IS a beautiful car (saw one at SEMA) but I think one can build a comparable car for far less money....

Old style intakes.

Since there's no nostalgia P/S section, I figured this is as good a spot for this as any. In looking at some of the early P/S Hemis I noticed alot of them have a relatively short runner intake tunnel ram. Does anyone know who made these & exactly why Mopar engineers opted for this shorter runner...

Re: '09 Challenger Drag Pak: Ordering Info !

Since it's been awhile since anybody posted here, I figured I'd let everyone know what I found out at SEMA last week. Per NHRA & MOPAR the cars have yet to be approved by NHRA as the ones at Brainard were considered prototypes. It'll take about 30 days to NHRA to approve them, as they aren't cer...

Re: Is anyone familiar with this intake ?

Isn't this what is commonly referred to as the "VANKE" manifold? It was a modification originally done on some manifolds for the '67 WO27 racecars.

Anyone hear more on this?

I saw on another site someone was interested in staring a nostalgia ProStock group. The idea sounded good in that it was broken into 2 groups : '69-72 then '73-78. All this was only an idea & there were other restrictions but the neat thing was it sounded like a class most anybody could get into...

Well I did ( a downpayment at least) and I know of one other guy & 2 others that said they were going to try, but their dealer wasn't sure about anything pertaining to the car.

I saw on another website Mopar may not be building the S/S version. Has anyone heard anything different?

Re: Have a 1970 Challenger w/318 what engine should i but in?

It's been awhile since I visited this thread & after reading the responses, I'll stick to my original opinion ---- a stroker smallblock (crate motor) will negate having to go for all the add-ons,would almost be a direct bolt-in, allow you to have a car that handles well in curves and won't break...
Even though Ray Barton is to build the motors, I'd like to see an "engine delete" option. If you know what I mean.
Neat idea but I think the car's have to be operable to qualify for stock or S/stock

This seems like it'll start the Hemi legend all over again. These cars sound more trick than the old cars. :P . let's see---- a 392 could put them in SS/E or so, 426-- SS/D or a 2nd gen Hemi in one for SS/DM or so. Who says the musclecar era is dead?

Great! That's more than I heard. I ordered mine based solely on info I got at SEMA. Will the car have the mounting points already installed? What about the cage? My dealer took the order but had absolutely no info.

Gen III Hemi specs.

With the S/S Challenger, confirmed, does anyone know what the specs are that NHRA will allow for these cars? (I.E. crank specs, rod wt, etc.)

Does anyone have any DETAILED photos of any of Bobby Yowell's P/S cars or know if he's still racing or if "Greg of Akron" who did the paint on them is still around?

Hydraulic & mechanical roller cams have different ramp rates so you simply cannot replace one roller type with another. You need to make sure the cam is compatible with the appropriate lifter.

What I was told by Hakim is that the car's are ordered using a special "P" (?) code. When I explained that to the salesmen he said he understood & that it was just like ordering a Viper ACR car and he was familiar with them, that's why he didn't squawk at my request. As to how it's equ...

I spoke to Hakim at SEMA. He confirmed the cars availibilty but said he didn't know EXACTLY how it would be equipped or exactly when it'd be released. He's figuring it'll still have its IRS, leaving it up to the builder what sort of rear suspension to put in it. Last Friday I went to a local Dodge d...

Okay, so you're looking at sale-abiliity too? In that case you'd have to go with a Hemi. There's nothing like them although realize your car is gong to be nose-heavy. At almost 800 pounds ( a little less with alum. heads) you just aren't going to balance the weight.

Assuming this is a street car, as much as I love Hemis, I'm affraid I agree-- astroker smallblock will offer you power, balance, and parts availibility. If price isn't a real concern, why not go with a new 6.1 Hemi? Small motor, new technology,& a warranty.

IMO, the 5.7 would still be a better deal. Although hotrodders still need to catch-up & learn the 5.7 quirks, Hot Rod Magazine did a real good article some months back highlighting the Hemis shortcomings. Based on that article if it were me, I'd find a good racing quality rotating assembly or pi...

While the 392 isn't a "true" Hemi, it's closer than what you've got. Besides with aluminum heads, 2 plugs per cylinder and the option of FI or carburated from the factory I think the 392 would be a better choice. Hell, I'm trying to sell my Hemi Dart just to afford the S/S Challenger when ...

If I were a potential buyer, I 'd offer somewhere in the area of 20-30k for the whole thing, depending on what you have for the car. Yes, I realize it's an e-body & anyone that breathes cars seems to want one, but as of this moment ALL I know is that it's an E-body-----period. The engine itself ...
