Re: Intake Manifold....

Not that they'd improve air flow much (if at all) over the stockers, but '60's, 70's and early-'80's vintage Slant 6 Carter or Ball & Ball 1-bbl carbs will fit that intake too. The only real advantage of switching to those, though, would be possibly to eliminate the governor used on the truck carbs ...

Pic - Outrageous All-aluminum, Twin-turbo'd 426 Hemi! I found this pic on the net. There were no details about the car or the engine, but the pic, just by itself, of an all-aluminum, injected, 426-style hemi with two humongous turbos and enough plumbing to sink a battleship, stuffed into the front ...

Re: 331 Oil Pump Recondition

P.S. I still think since they're almost new, you should consider keeping the 7.5 to 1 truck slugs and consider turbocharging. It would take a bit of scrounging in the boneyard to find a pair, but two carbureted draw-through turbo set-ups off of a pair of late 70's-early 80's 3.8 Buick Regal, Park Av...

Hi Rob! NICE looking oil pan!! Your making good progress. By the way - just wondering - did you ever get a positive I.D. on those pistons? Also, have you contacted the guy that's got them and worked a deal yet with him on them yet?

Re: Normally aspirated race hemi

What are you going to be using for fuel....gasoline or alcohol? If your planning on gas, I'd probably use a tunnel ram style intake and 2-4bbls. One thing about carbs and a tunnel ram - you can control the hp while your daughters are learning and getting used to the car simply by changing carbs and ...

Re: Stroker 392 Crankshafts

There a *lot* of confusion about the so-called "Poly" engines. There were three completely different "Poly" engine families that have little if anything in common with each other. The Chrysler Poly was based on the early hemi and most Chrysler hemi parts will either interchange or can be made to wor...

If the "cross" icon stamped on the engine I.D. pad is a "Maltese cross" ( ie - sort of like WW1 German-style cross) - that indicates the engine was assembled with a crankshaft that has .001 undersize main journals. Re: Sodium Filled Exhaust Valves...

If the valves needed replacement, I'd say chuck 'em, but since yours' sound like they're in excellent condition - and also, since you're only planning a mild street build, I'd say keep 'em and run 'em. As for the rotators, the truck engines used them, but there's no reason that they're needed that i...

It's a standard, 1978 400 cubic-inch Chrysler 'B block' engine. They were used in late '70's Dodge, Plymouth and Chrysler full-size passenger cars and station wagons, 1/2 and 3/4 ton Dodge pick-up trucks and vans and some motorhomes . First, 426 Hemis weren't factory installed in any vehicle after 1971. Secondly, even in stock form, the 426 Hemi was slightly de-tuned, all-out race engine and totally unsuitable for any other use. I don't know what you're smoking or what the numbers are you're reading, but 426 Hemis were never inst...
