Where to Buy a Crate Hemi Engine

So you want to purchase a crate Hemi engine? Here are a few places that I suggest to check. Hensley Performance (Knoxville, TN) http://www.hensleyracing.net/ Mopar Engines West (Morgan Hill, CA) http://www.moparengineswest.com/ Ray Barton (Robesonia, PA) http://www.raybarton.com/ Scoggin Dickey (Lub...

I understand the 5.7L is 10% more efficient than the
5.9L but that the truck now has worse aerodynamics.
(And thus the improved fuel economy is not noticed.)

How about a Super Giant Hemi?

How about a truck Hemi with "Super Giant 315"
written on the valve covers? I am trying to get
the serial number info off the block next. I think
the engine came from a D-500 truck.

Help ID this (maybe) Industrial

Image

I received this photo and this ID: NE552283

That ID means 1955 Chrysler FirePower 331.
Why might it have the Industrial valve covers?
Can anyone ID the engine from this picture?
(And help verify if it is (or not) an Industrial.)

Aftermarket Issues with 5.7L Hemi

I have received a forwarded message from JBA that they will not be releasing their headers for the 5.7L Hemi for several months. The issue at hand, they mention, is the computer limiting the power output of the engine. I also noticed that the Kenne-Bell supercharger for the 5.7L Hemi is also delayed...

BO29/LO23 Production #s

Does anyone know the true production figures for the BO29 and LO23 super stock cars? I am finding 55, 70, and 80 when I do some digging. And how many were automatics? Manuals? I am trying to build some documentation for my http://www.hemicuda.com/ website, and it does not seem like 1968 SS info is t...

Early Turquoise 426 Blocks?

A web visitor was speaking with someone who made a
reference to early 1966 426 Hemi blocks (built in 1965)
that came in turquoise, not orange. Anyone confirm?

I am told that pricing is $6250 for an automatic
and $6500 for a manual. Complete engine only.
You need to add alternator, air, power steering,
wiring and the computer. Their pricing for the
harness and computer will be coming soon.

Ask the person who told you this to share some of his proof. That'd be interes...

These guys have received a batch of crate engines.
Contact them quick, I bet the engines will go fast.

There might have been confusion in what was being said.
Chrysler had hemi heads, but they were not the only ones.
Ford also made hemi head engines, notably the Boss 429.
The point might have been that Chrysler was not the only
manufacturer to have produced hemi head engines.

Assuming you are looking at the heads with the intake
valves at the top, exhaust at the bottom, here should
be a good pattern to follow:

8 4 2 6 10
7 3 1 5 9

Go 60-80 ft-lbs on the first sweep and 85 ft-lbs next.
Basically just work the bolts from the inside going out.

I am told the pad where the VIN is stamped should be 5/32 inch from the block. If someone removed the VIN, it would be about 1/8 inch less than that. This pad should have "swirl marks" that were made during the machining process. If the pad is shiny or smooth, it may have been "re-machined". Special...

What does HEMI mean?

The term HEMI references the hemispherical combustion chambers in the engine's heads. The chamber design puts the intake/exhaust valves in-line, rather than side-by-side. This allows for better flow of air through the head. The spark plug in the center of the chamber creates a better ignition of the...
