Durango 335-hp vs Ram 345-hp

Some people have noticed that the Hemi Durango
comes with a 335-hp rating (the Ram has 345-hp).

DC says this is due to the more restrictive exhaust
system used on the new Durango to minimize some
of the interior noise. The D is said to be real quiet.

Help ID this 426 Hemi

I would like to help a visitor named Mike decode a 426 Hemi. The block casting is 2468330-1 with a date casting 9-30-68. The pan rail has the stamp OB295961. On the underside of the block on a small pad on the underside of the lower mount- ing ear for the starter is stampled 3-69-2 F 4161288. On the...

JET is supposedly going to have one in late Sept.
SuperChips and Mopar say they're months away.

I have heard that these new Hemi blocks
are not designed to be rebuilt after death.
If that is true, I imagine they cannot have
any boring done to them. We will have to
see if the 6.1 uses the same block or not.

Here's a chamber from the Dodge 5.7L Hemi:

Not the best pictures, but they show the idea.

You can see the hemispherical heads in this picture:

Compared with, say, the Ford 289 cylinder head:

When you see them both, you can see the difference.

The new 5.7L Hemi trucks are built with reliability
in mind, so the PCM corrects a good deal of those
actions to keep the driveline in one piece (AFAIK).

Everyone wants Mopar to release an aftermarket
PCM so we can really see the Hemi's true power.
(Third-party vendors suggest a chip by Nov/Dec.)

2500-hp XI-2220 V16 Hemi

I believe that Chrysler developed the XI-2220 engine
for World War II, but it was not released in time to be
used in production. An 2219-ci 2500-hp inverted V16.
(Supposedly the engine was about 10.5 feet in length.)

Can anyone share some more information on this??

What model year are we talking about? '04 or '05?
Is the 6.1L slated as an option for the 1500 trucks?
(Was the V10 ever in the 1500s or only in 2500s?)

That is a good point. The dyno graphs that I have
seen show a peak HP reading around 4400, and it
is claimed by Dodge the peak HP sits around 5400.
So the 260-rwhp numbers are not yet at the peak.

MPP will sell PCMs like mad when the release them!

Dodge 241 Red Ram with 4-bbl Carb?

My records indicate the 1954 Dodge Red Ram 241 Hemi came only in with 2-bbl setups (two compression ratios). I received a message from someone that they ordered a '54 Dodge Custom Royal, brand new, with a 4-bbl carb. The engine was red with aluminum colored valve covers. Was there, in fact, 4-bbl 24...

How does this work? 2 "second gears"?
When accelerating (upshifting), it always uses the 1.67 gear.
When downshifting, it will use either 1.50 or 1.67 depending
on throttle position, speed, and determined engine load, for
the best performance.
