Re: Just for fun ;-)

Thanks for posting that, David. I am hoping mine will hit that hard. I just sent the cam to be reground at Oregon Cam Grinders. Going with .435 lift and 240 duration @ .050 on a 106 lobe separation. Solid of course. I wanted the lift low so as not to stress the long exhaust rockers. It should sound ...

Re: Intake Manifold....

Well I gotta friend in Milledgeville runnin Ancient Orange, a front engine slingshot dragster with a big block and dual quads. The fuel lines on it are uneven as hell but that don't stop it from runnin 171 MPH so I think I'm good. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h200/Geardrivensteam/ANCIENTORANGE....

Thank you David. That's about the best price I've seen so far. I'll have to see if I can scrape it together.

Looking Good Rob! Probably not as good as the one you have near you, but we have a great ACE Hardware here in Fort Collins too. I love that place. I tell my wife that when I retire someday, I'm going to work at ACE just for fun. I'll be the ancient old dude, barely able to lift his feet off the flo...

Re: Intake Manifold....

No can do. These are the large venturi and large base carbs. They all came with front fuel inlets. The small venturi small base carbs had the side inlets. There's enough room to come off with a 90* on that rear carb. I'm a killer with a tubing bender. lol I would have gotten the smaller carbs, but I...

Re: Sodium Filled Exhaust Valves...

Well I have decided to replace all of the valves with new stainless ones. I am going to have some money in this and the last thing I want is a nice engine destroyed by a 55 year old valve that should have been replaced. It will slow me down a tad, but since this is a long term project anyway, what d...

Re: 331 "W" Block limits

Another option is to get Venolia custom 331 pistons in any bore size you want, any CR. They're good, way cheaper than Ross etc, they know the old stuff too. Why not try a 3.91" 318 bore with offset ground crank to accept BBC rods? You can get around 360 CID with that combo. An offset ground an...

Re: Distributor.

Naw, that's right. I found a vacuum distributor but the can is bad. I found an NOS can on Ebay....and IT was bad. That second one you linked to will work and I have emailed the seller and he says it holds vacuum, so that's gonna be it. Thanks.

Re: Distributor.

I appreciate the input, but I am going to use the dual point. They have been around and worked well close to 100 years. Properly set up and adjusted, with a good hot coil, they will rival an electronic in most instances with the exception of very high RPM which I have no intention of doing. I am ext...

Re: Intake Manifold....

Thought I would update this real quick before I hit the sack. I actually found two matching 2GC carburetors. They are the large base, 352 CFM versions, just like I need. I already have one and the other is on the way. I will post pics of the one in the morning. Slow but sho.

Distributor.

Keeping in line with "old school" and "cheap" I found a factory Auto Lite dual point distributor for my Hemi. I already had the one that came with it and it is in buildable condition, but it has no provision for vacuum advance. Since mine is going to be a relatively mild build an...
