Another option on the tall& narrow under carb crossover is to weld up the part that is above the car intake flange.

Re: blower manifold

All Chr intakes interchange IF heads & block are matched up, low deckheads & low deck block, or high deck heads & high deck block. The intake mounting area of 392 heads was built up so the same intake will fit both high & low deck Chr brand engines. If you put 331/354 heads on a 392 block a spacer i...

Re: Head gaskets?

The hard to find Tex Smith Mopar hot rod book(not the hemi book) has a chapter on hemis. It shows 2 gaskets overlayed (51-4 & 56)showing some of the diffrences. Apparently the '56 is for a 331. Mentions the gasket is from "Fitzgerald"(?). The '56 gasket is taller than the 51-4 so the heads must be a...

Re: Got My Hemi Book Today!!

A few that I can remember w/o rereading...Photo says the seperate W/P & crossover was used from '55 on. The 55-56 used a four leg pump that bolted to the block & heads, same timing cover as 392. "there were no DeSoto Ind engines." Yes there were, 276 & 291, a couple have surfaced, apparently they ar...

Re: 331, 354, 392 Exhaust manifolds

The 51-3 331s had the round ex ports. The 331/354 use ram horn center dump type while the 392 uses a straighter twords the back style that doesn't flow quite as well.

Unless things have changed, the only cast pistons were 8.5s unless you found an old set of Jahn's.

Re: Hay Yall.....

As far as pistons & C/R is concerned, the 7.5 is nominal. A few that I've read where actual measurements of C/R was done have come in up to a full point low. Custom pistons about doubles the pistion bill, but a measured 9-10:1 is a lot better than stock replacement that might be only 6.5.

Hello, I know that this is a very old ad, but I was wondering if you still have parts for those 270's. I am looking for a water pump housing for my 55, with a casting number #1616852-2. Zinc additive will work, so will diesel oil. Accel brand 10W-40 SF is available through NAPA, Fastenal &, soon, Amazon(used to be stocked by Wal-Mart, but no more :( ). SF has zinc. True racing oil has it, but the additive package is dead by 1500 miles. There's some sepecialty oil Brad Penn, Comp ca...

I have had similiar luck with Sythetics like Mobil 1. I had a turbo Shelby that went for 130K before I sold it. Took the head off once to change the gasket and the engine looked like brand new inside. No browning of the metal surfaces, the cylinder walls still had the hone marks on them. I was sold...

Offy(?) makes a squeeze adaptor that funnels down to stock bore size. Most 4V hemis, including the 392s, came with 1 WCFB.
