Re: Transmission SUCCESS.....
It always stuck in my craw how many people use adapter plates with these engines. I've always thought that was cheesy. I never understood why and now I understand even less. I guess maybe for weight savings? Anyway, here it is. The transmission looks pretty small in comparison, but remember, the A23...

Transmission SUCCESS.....
Tonight I felt like ramblin around in the shop for some reason. I got to lookin at this mafungo bellhousin. It has several transmission bolt patterns on it. The cool thing about it is, they all seem to be factory holes, because they have "bosses" built up on the inside of the bellhousing f...

Re: 331 Oil Pump Recondition
Alright, one reconditioned oil pump. One thing that i always do on a georotor oil pump is this. I always flip the outside rotor upside down from its original condition. This puts the wear side of the rotors on opposite sides and introduces new unworn surfaces to each other. I almost didn't do it thi...

Re: Hay Yall.....
I'm in Georgia so it's not necessary.....BUT I think if I do anything there, it would be to widen the intake flange in that area as aluminum is much easier to weld than cast iron. The Hot Heads intake I am going to run has that taken care of though as it has been redesigned to work with the truck he...

331 Oil Pump Recondition
I was hoping to spend a little money on the Hemi this week, but I found some pistons I need to save up for, so I am on to other things I can do for free. I disassembled the oil pump and have it soaking in parts cleaner overnight. When it's clean, I'll snap some pics. It looked real good on the insid...

No. I actually don't have them yet. I am working out a deal with the owner. I will probably go ahead and get them because surely they are over 7.5:1. lol As long as they aren't 12:1 or higher, I think I'll be ok.

Piston ID Help.
Hi. mart has been kind enough to locate some 331 pistons for me. Here is a picture of one. Looks like a Jahn's piston to me. Any idea on compression ratio? I think it's certainly safe to say it's higher than the 7.5 I currently have. Thanks yall. And thank you mart! http://i64.photobucket.com/albums...

Re: blower manifold
I am new to the hemis.....BUT I believe you will find that the difference is in the block and the heads. The 392 is a "raised block" much in the same way as the 413, 426 and 440 Chrysler RB engines in comparison to the standard "b" blocks. Since the deck surface is raised in comp...

Thanks Larry. I appreciate you not taking my foot in mouth disease personally. It happens on a regular basis. I will keep posting. May be a bit before any more hemi pictures as I need to get to work on my slant.

Re: Head gaskets?
I went out today with the gasket pictures on my computer and the block deck is exactly the same as the 1956 to 1958 354 and 392 gasket, so I assume that one will work. Sorry about the crapstorm over on The Hamb, but people kept telling me things that I knew were not right. Although I am new to Hemis...

Who are we talking about bein a jerk here? If it's me, I sure would like to see some posted evidence. I've been as careful as a church mouse because I need to learn. If folks think I'm a jerk, I can cure that real easy. I can just get all the books I can and learn it myself and kiss the net goodbye....

Re: Head gaskets?
Thanks David. Mine is probably gonna be a bastard child. It is a 1956 331. Since truck motors were made to 1956 at least from what I've read, that's what I have. I assume it is the same as the 55......but of course that's dangerous ground.

Head gaskets?
I read over on the HAMB that boring the 331 to the 354 bore size requires specially made head gaskets. Can someone here please expound? Like how much? Where I can get them? So far with the HAMB, I am not impressed. Yall are much more helpful here. They seem to be newbie unfriendly. Thank you.

Yes because were it not for Don's involvement, the Hemi likely would not have evolved into what it did.

Re: I know This Ain't Hemi Related.....
Only two things hurt short term memory....old age and a little green herb. lol You better know I've thought about the Hemi in there. But, the 63 A bodies never came with a V8 and were actually designed around the slant. The firewall is different than the 64 and up and would require some cutting........
