Re: THREE AFBs?
>absolutely outrageous and cool as hell! so then...you wouldn't think I'm stupid to maybe give it a try? I've got two 400cfm AFBs so three would be 1200 cfm, a bit much by standard theory but six pack setups have more than that even on just 340CI, which I never did understand. But it'd be much easie...

Re: Valve cover, spring retainer clearance?
PAW sells tubes that fit these covers. I don't know if other tubes might fit. I'll measure them and post. Yeah height has me a little concerned because if they're taller they're also wider once installed in a really confined engine bay. Plus, IF I do fab a crossram the height may have an impact on f...

Re: Valve cover, spring retainer clearance?
Ok here's the pics, mainly for any other newbs who might run into the same situation, you hemi greybeards already know this I'm sure. You can see how the retainers left light scratches in the steel cover, the PAWs don't interfere at all. You can also see how the overall sizes compare, wider, taller.

Re: Valve cover, spring retainer clearance?
Problem solved. I got a pair of PAW finned covers and they have room to spare. And damn they look good! But they are big, so big I hope I don't have a fitment problem with the fenderwells. Well, that's what torches and hammers are for, right? When I get the chance I'll post a side by side comparison...

THREE AFBs?
I heard mention of using 3 AFBs on a 392. Was this ever a reality? Must look wicked but how well could it/did it run?

Re: Tom Waters Girdle
Even though I don't expect power anything like Dan is making, I got Tom's girdle. Because why not, I'm going to studs and line honing anyway. Not going to four bolt caps so anything that can help make the bottom end more ridgid is a plus. It might be overkill for my street build but hey, sometimes o...

Re: Tunnel rams for ported heads
>I will mention this: an adapter to fit these Nascar manifolds to a 392 Hemi with 331/354 heads would be much thicker, and would provide much more thread engagement and more rigidity. great idea, plus you'd have more room to blend the differently shaped ports. I looked more closely at the side by si...

Re: Tunnel rams for ported heads
I was thinking more about this. Since you will have recessed bolts from spacer to head and then bolts from manifold to spacer, wouldn't it be in essence having two forces pulling the spacer apart?, since there will be no thru bolts to clamp the three pieces together as a unit? If the aluminum spacer...

Re: Tunnel rams for ported heads
This might be a dumb question and a bit off the subject but how come that manifold has slots instead of round bolt holes? The project looks very feasable though. Will you have recessed bolts to join the adapter to the head and then similar for the manifold to adapter? Or do you think you can drill t...

Re: Tunnel rams for ported heads
OOO I'd like to see that! I'm toying with the idea of fabbing a crossram manifold using the intake adapters for 354 heads on a 392 block, as the flange.

>Headers would be a custom deal, as there's nothing being made that will fit that application. This may or may not have relevance to your situation... I've been salivating for a set of webers for awhile. Can't do it now but maybe as an upgrade in the future.
Do webers allow you to tune each venturi seperately or do tuning mods affect both barrels the same?

What's your street carbueration?
What's your carb(s) setup? How do you like it? What problems did you have, if any and how'd you get around it? Would you change anything if you did it over again? Relavent engine details would be good, thanks. I keep waffling. On the one hand I like HotHeads recommendation of a Weiand with 2 390 Hol...

Re: Daily driver 354 vs 383
If mileage is the concern I might think about a smaller carb. Get a stronger signal to the primaries. I don't know if your manifold is adaptable but maybe a spreadbore? Especially if you have OD. Your cruising rpm is going to be low. I had a 350 Camaro(so shoot me!) w a spreadbore holley(don't remem...

Re: Stroking the 392?
I found out that the Chevy rod is the same width(.994") as the 392(assuming the online info is correct, I'd certainly double check in the flesh). So that leaves the pin and yes, can the piston maker squeeze it all in. Between the .175 stroke increase(.0875 being the actual radial increase) and ...

Re: Daily driver 354 vs 383
My2cents. If you love the truck and having a hemi in it would float yer boat, do that. If you're more like, "Well, I've got this truck and I've got these motors lying around..." then I'd say use the wedge and save the 354 for something special. I'm not saying the truck is not special , to ...

Dwell time at TDC
Is there a relationship between piston dwell at TDC and detonation?
I'm wondering if a longer rod will have any effect(good or bad) on detonation, which might influence CR choice.

Re: Stroking the 392?
A nifty way to accomplish this is to offset grind the crank to BBC (2.200") and utilize Eagle 7.100" rods with a set of aftermarket pistons. We utilize Ross, and a call to Pat O'Neil will get you all squared away. Ross makes a beautiful and very light piston for this application. You'll e...

Engine Dressup Clearcoat?
I'd like to have satin finish aluminum dressup parts. I especially like the PAW finned classic look. But with roaddirt they'd get pretty crudded up and tranished. Q... is there an effective, durable, heat resistant clearcoat for raw aluminum engine parts? Polished is nice but for this car I want a s...
