I would say it depends on how you are going to get the additional stroke. Using a 291 crank or a 330 crank.

Does anyone have any sonic check numbers for these new blocks?
Any maximum bore numbers floating around?

Just curious

Be sure the balancer you decide to use is from an internally balanced motor. The late 340 and 360 are externally balanced, and the balancers are visually different. I believe that some of the earliest balancers had the correct width keyway. Most you find do not, and you will either have to have the ...

The "tall" truck rear main cap has an oil pump mounting pad which is approximately .125 higher than a "car" cap. They also use the wide bolt pattern pump mount which is consistant with those pumps without the screw in pick-up tube. The screw in tube style, i.e., 392 pumps have a ...

No secret. Get rid of the cam driven pump and mount a belt driven pump on the side of your block. Mount it as low as possible.... that way it keeps its prime.

You may want to pick up one of those books that Bobby Johnson was selling over on Racingjunk.com. That should have answers to any of your injection questions. Or give Gene or Jr. a call.

The original post asked about the size of the dowels, not if they are needed or not. The only way the dowels will not line up once the heads or deck is cut is if they are cut on an angle. The Moparts post deals with BB Mopar, not early hemis. The main cap dowel is just that, a locating dowel ...

All of the mentioned kits will let you use later model Mopar starters, including the new type mini starters. They all bolt directly to the small block bellhousing. All the mentioned kits serve the same purpose. To "correct" (for lack of a better term) the early hemi crank spacing to the la...

Use an exhaust gasket as a template and fill the head if you are going to do it that way.

The truck heads have a taller center port than the car heads, and most car intakes do not have enough material to cover that hole. You may be ok with your set-up.

The best way to get the dowel pins out is with a dowel puller. You will find that once you get the dowels out that they are stepped, and the holes in the block are the smaller diameter which you need. At that point you can have either new dowels made, or the ones that you removed turned down. Approx...

If the hub is not any good, and the crankshaft is beyond repair, then I would take it off by slitting it. Use a 3 inch cutoff wheel and cut it lengthwise.... as far as you can go. Keep in mind that once you cut into the flange, you are committed. At that point a puller is just going to break the fla...

Here are some approximate measurements. The bolt pattern : 4.175 inches
Register : 3.25 inches

The real problem is that the 392 crankshaft extends out of the block more than the later model (post 62) engines.
