Block, crank, rocker arms, heads, pistons, and mains are headed for the shop on Monday. Wish them luck!!!!

Re: 354 Hemi build
Yeah the guides are pressed so your shop will have to do that. You have a choice of iron or bronze guides. I went with my shop's recommendation of iron as its longer lasting and since its a street machine longevity trumps any minor gains from bronze. They way he explained it was the reason to go to...

Re: 354 Hemi build
The shop looked it over while it was in the bed of the truck. Said it looked good just visually. Said it will need bored and of course new valve and springs and all that stuff.
Looks like I need to finish the tear down and get it to them.

I have kinda started the build. Did some cleaning. Going to load it in the truck tomorrow to head to the machine shop. I can't get it to turn over, this sucks. The lifters are stuck too. IF by chance the 354 has a bad block, is there a better water pump and timing chain cover made? The 354 cars heads have a water jacket on the fronts for the water pump. I am guessing some one sells block off plates? Is there any reason not to run the factory water pump other than weight? The one on ...

Hemi choice. Need help
As some of you have read, I bought five hemi's. I need to know which of these is the best to start with. NE56- 1956 354 VT 448- 1956 331 VT348- 1954 331 I think the only difference between a 331 and 354 is the bore. Is this correct? The 354 has the stamped metal timing chain cover. The 331's do not....

Tranny ID
I have a tranny attached to one of my 330 Desoto Hemi. I would like to know what it is. I haven't found anything on the net. On the tail shaft it has Bonnalite T530857. I like the idea of the 700R4 with overdrive. Although, I did just read that they can only handle 450 lbs of torque. True?
