Re: 331 "W" Block limits
My '56 331 truck block is a "W" casting too and the casting number clearly shows it as a 331 hemi truck engine, not a poly. I plan to punch mine to 354 STD as well.

Somehow FOUR 97s and "budget" just don't go together George. But you know, anything is possible at this point. I have no deadline.

Re: Intake Manifold....
I found this at Summit. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/TRD-2025/ Two of those and I could stick two Stromberg 97s or Holley 94s on it. That would probably handle anything I would ever put under them. Course, the 1 barrels may. Who knows? The 97s would have you @ 300 CFM total & the Holleys n...

I am sure you are right about the price. If I could find another one cheaper, I would. He does probably want more for it than it's worth. However, It fits perfectly with my vision of what I want the engine to look like. Plus, it gives me a water crossover and a thermostat housing. Also, it is a fact...

Re: Intake Manifold....
I am not familiar with that carb number.....in fact, I think it's a typo. I have several more pics of them and they are very obviously both governor free, so that makes their originality as truck carbs suspect. Not that that really matters and I certainly prefer no governors. He said that he measure...

That's kinda a strange setup right there. BUT I know this.....Fiat had some VERY formidable little military vehicles. So, they CAN build somethin.

They are Carter 2421YSA single barrels. Kits for them might be hard to find, but that's ok. I will adapt some more popular carbs if I have to. They have a 1.6875 venturi diameter, so just usin from what I've found regarding venturi size and flow they oughtta be in the 250 CFM each neighborhood. Actu...

Re: 331 Oil Pump Recondition
Dont think I've not mulled it over. But, it's just not kosher with the "old school" look and build I am wantin to do. If push comes to shove, I will just get the 8.5 pistons from Egge, and blueprint the deck height and get it smack on top of 8.5 and cam it wisely.

Re: 331 Oil Pump Recondition
What a hot thread. Anyway, I cleaned the oil pan up Bohemoth that it is. It had some dents in the bottom so I cut the baffle out so that I could knock out the dents and make sure the under side of the baffle was clean. Got the dents out, spot welded the baffle back in and primed and painted it. I al...

Hello all. I have a question regarding bearing retainers. This specifically involves an A230 three speed transmission and a 1956 Chrysler Hemi bellhousing. The A230 will fit and bolt right up to this particular bellhousing as it has several factory bolt patterns. I know they are factory because they...
