Re: 270 Hemi stock/restoration parts
I followed that lead too George, but I can't find it at Autozone. Autozone shows the part number in their system, but none of the cars I plug into their "Does it fit" software search tool work. Here is the link to the discussion, scroll to post # 84 and read from there: http://www.jalopyjo...

Here is a cover that just sold for over $550 plus shipping. If you look close, this cover is really rough too:

I guess some really covet these old drag racing bits.

Re: OLD OR NEW STARTER? THAT IS THE QUESTION
Bob, I personally would go with the later model starter. You don't have to buy the starter from Hot Heads. The parts store down the street will have one you can use. The reason I say this is because the truck will be a "sometimes" daily driver. Starters are a maintenance item, and you don'...

Roller Timing Sets
Hello Hemi Experts. I know that you can easily adapt the small block mopar timing sets to the early Hemi engines with the short-snout camshaft. I recently stumbled across a "Keyway Adjustable Billet Timing Set" from Comp Cams, part #7103. It's for the 273-318-340-360 S.B. Mopar engi...

Re: Engine Stand Worthy of a Hemi!
That's a really good idea Mart. I can totally see that helping when torquing down stuff. I have a friend in town who has a big box of casters he might let me search through. I bet I've got something in my junk pile I can trade with. Another thought would be to put a couple of threaded rods wit...

Engine Stand Worthy of a Hemi!
Hello all! I finally got some real progress done on an engine stand for my 392 Hemi engine project. I briefly mentioned it in an earlier thread. I'm hoping for some warmer weather next week so I can finally get some paint on it. Hopefully next weekend it will be finished! Then I can get on with fini...

Re: blower manifold
The reason for building the tunnel ram was that the engine was going in a V-Drive flat bottom boat. With out a blower, Hemis are kind of lazy on the bottom end so we wanted to get more torque in the bottom to mid range rpm and at the time, tunnel rams on Big block chevys were very popular in boats....

Re: Weiand mag front cover
Here's an old Thomson aluminum cover with I'm guessing to be about 8" of weld repair, and a missing pump cover. It just sold for $323 plus $15 for shipping. Based on this, I'm guessing your mag cover would sell for twice that on the EvilBay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...

Phil! You don't seem to let anything stand in your way of ending up with what you want. If you can't get it, you make it! You are really inspiring me to do some creating for my own project. Re: blower manifold
Amazing work Phil!
So you put a bearing in that front timing chain cover. I think I've seen one of those before. I'm guessing that's to support the end of the crank due to the loading of the lower blower pulley.
Unlike you, I'm still very new to all of this.

That's what I was thinking too. 392 Heads on a 331/354 block, or 331/354 heads on a 392 block would keep things from fitting right.DHEMI wrote:Just a thought: what year Hemi do you have?Might need spacerplates between heads and manifold.

Bob,
I found TrWaters website! I have read threads over on the HAMB that his transmission adapters are the best in the business. You should also check them out:

That's great Bob! I don't have any Desoto parts, but Hot Heads has everything you need! The Hot Heads swap meet, the HAMB, and Ebay are also good places to search for early Desoto Hemi bit's. Hot Heads has a water pump adapter that is also a nice aluminum timing chain cover. It uses a SBC water pump...

Re: 331 HEMI BUILD
How do you all feel about an S24 Desoto motor vs. a similiar rated (HP, torque and cubic inch) crysler motor? I would think the 330 Desoto Hemi (S24) would be fine. It has a longer stroke than a 331, so that might be more fun for a street engine. It says here in my handy dandy little book: The Chry...
