1950's truck hemi i.d.?

Post by greg »

I need help to id this motor. the only numbers i could find that might help is a casting number 1537728-1 off the intake and # 6242 22096 off the block in front of the valley pan, and 1632159 off the right bank head. I cannot find any letters that would help. I believe it to be a 270 but need to confirm so I know what it is before I can sell it. I know it came from a dodge truck, '54-58? any help? Thanks, Greg

Greg, did you ever get anywhere with this?

I have pictures of an engine a friend is considering buying from CA, it's got those same numbers. The guy reckons it's a 348 out of a '56 Dodge pickup, but there is no listing for a 348 anywhere in those early models.

I hope you get this message and respond...

Those head numbers were on 54-55 331 Chrysler hemis in Dodge vechicles, mostly trucks and schoolbusses.
