*M45R* Marine Hemi Decoding Help

Post by scottm »

I need help in decoding someone's marine Hemi engine.

Model: M45R 0404 60693
Intake: E-4533- (M or N)
Tag on Front: (1 19 59)

The block has a W on both sides by the freeze plugs.

Does anyone have any guesses? My documentation
is lacking a M45R marine Hemi model designation, but
I am thinking this might be a '59 model, perhaps 354.

We would *love* to dig up some more information!

Based on the "R" designation I would bet its a reverse rotation motor. I think most of them were 354's but my documentation also shows some 331's with the M45 numbers. Wish I could be more help.

M45

As far as I know there was not 354 engine called a M45R. The marine Hemi's were all M45S with different suffixes if 331 or 354. It could be a later engine beyond those. Ron
