ID on Chrysler Hemi

Post by sean275 »

Can anyone help me i d this Hemi and give range in which the block would sell for. Serial number from the top of the block 155547s-1
or it may be 1555475-1.
also had MV above that number and 19 - 1 - 11 under that number. Is this a 392 or 426???

Thanks in advance.

I don't know anything about the numbers you gave but you can always tell the diference between 392's and 426's ......392-the distributer is in the back of the block like a small block and the 426 is in the front of the block like all big blocks...383,400,426 wedge, and the 440...hope that helps a little.

426 dist. is in the front, early Hemis they are in the rear. If rear dist., there is a pad in front of valley pan that should have a code stamped in it.

Darn, my blown 392 does not have a distributor in the rear, my injected 354 does not have a dist in the rear, and my carbbed KB 580 does not have a dist in the front.

Are Magnetos the same? :D

Next to the distributer Cap there was a code that looked like this:

D P
C D

Hi,
The "DPCD" isn't that relevent to decoding, other than it stood for "Dodge, Plymouth, Chrysler, De Soto", and was frequently found on items cast by/for MoPar.
I'll check out the numbers and get back to you.

Hi,
Are there any other numbers on the block ? The numbers you listed earlier don't tie up with any reference material I have. Try the Hot Heads hemi website. See if there's anything on that site.
