two mystery poly's for a hemi?

Post by coloradopoly »

Hi... Thanks for allowing me to post in your forum!

Im trying to put together a good poly motor from two donor motors... so I can then maybe find some hemi heads and end up with one good hemi.

Im trying to figure out what Ive got... can anyone ID these casting numbers?

Block: VT538-8316
intake: 1735773-3

block: D631-49136
intake: 1409375-6

If there's anyone out there who might have access to this information or might be able to steer me in the right direction I sure would appreciate the help!

Your 'VT538' block and '1735773-3' intake are for a 1957
Dodge 315 "Power Giant" truck engine. Your D631 block
and 1735773-6 intake are for a '56 Dodge 270 inch
passenger car engine.

The 270 is a low deck & the 315 is a high deck engine. You need to focus on one or the other. If they are in equal condition, the 315 would be the better choice. Might want to check out Doc Fromader's 315 build at www.webrodder.com ignoring the expensive/exotic (crank & cam) stuff.
