Dear All,
Is there anyway of telling what car my engine was in when it was delivered?
Scott has told me this from the stamping on the engine plate.
As for the decode...
CH426 = 1967 engine
Maltese Cross = .001" undersized bearing shells
12 = month
16 = day
09 = engine # for the day
Thanks in advance,
Hugh

Chrysler didn't code their engine numbers to the VIN numbers so
there's no way of telling precisely which paricular car the engine
was originaly installed in. Since the casting date is Dec. 16 1967,
the engine would be theoretically "correct" for any Dodge or
Plymouth Hemi car built in January, February and maybe even
into March of 1968. It's even posible too, that the engine was
a warrenty replacement engine, or an 'over the counter' crate
engine and never actually installed in a car on the assembly
line.
