My Good Year Eagle LSs have about 28000 miles on them and they seem to have lost any desire to drive reasonably well on wet/damp roads. I still have plenty of tread but they're becoming a hazard.
- What's everyone's opinions on a good set of replacement tires (275/55-20s)?
- Has anyone plussed sized their tires to a 305/50-20?
Opinions on Replacement Tires

i am curious also - my 275-55-20's have just over 16,000 miles on them and they all have over an 1/8 inch of static runout. the vibrations at certain speeds can get very annoying and the rims are nearly perfect - no bent sections at all!

that's the dig - the truck only has 16,000 miles and the tires look really nice as far as tread wear goes. would new shocks make a difference on the "old" tires. IMHO it would be a shame to replace the tires...SoCalHemi04 wrote:Stock shocks cost DC about $4....many after market shocks react 3 times faster so be sure to get new shocks when you get the new tires.

So has anyone replaced their tires with a particular brand? Discount tire had a few brands, that I wasn't familiar with, but had very sporty "aquatread" designs and were recomended by the person behind the counter. However, I'm not sure if these foreign tires should be trusted just because they look good.
I've been wanting to replace my shocks since first buying the truck but have never taken the plunge. Its encouraging to hear that they actually make a difference. Maybe someday soon .

I've been buying from Discount for a while. I haven't replaced my truck tires yet, but I did try a set of the Kumho Ecsta Supra tires on my '97 Z28. They were simply the best tires I ever had on that car-- better than the Goodyear Eagles it came with, even. I put a set of them on the wife's Protege too. Based on that, I'd say you can trust at least some of the odd brands you might find at Discount.Discount tire had a few brands, that I wasn't familiar with, but had very sporty "aquatread" designs and were recomended by the person behind the counter.
