I was curious if this would be the next SRT motor.scottm wrote:I heard that DCX is showing a 392 HEMI (6.4)

Perhaps dropping the 6.1 down into normal duties.
But it's sounding like this 6.4 may just be a stroker
motor that may come out from Mopar Performance.

Thats very interesting. I'm a bit dissapointed however. When looking at the specs of the 6.1 block i.e. 4.06 inch bore, it seems to me that with a healthy .060 bore and 4 inch crank that would yield 426 cubic inches. However going on the assumption that the 6.1 block is cast like the 5.7 block then .060 over just can't be done. I imagine it was a mear crankshaft change to yield this 392. 392 is nostalgic yes but, i just doesn't hold the bearing that 426 does. On the comment on the 392 being capable of making 600 horse, the 5.7 heads just cleaned up and a moderate polish job flow enough air to support that number. My own thoughts are: Dodge should build the Challenger to compete head on with the mustang GT. Naturally it'll have the base, the SXT, and an R/T model. Base and SXT recieving naturally the V6s. The R/T model i think should have a 320+/- 4.7L cam slinger with a solid axle and a five speed. The R/T should compete directly with the Mustang in both price and performance. (Lets let bigones be bigones here and just admit the new Rustang is no slouch). Next up I think should be naturally an SRT-8 with the 6.1L and 4 whel independent and bells and whistles and fancy gidgets and gadgets a doodads. Then maybe a limited run of a T/A model that has a small block 426 Hemi and compete directly with the new GT500 assuming it'll see production. I dunno i'm rambling now.
