All stock just arrived from HENDRICKS Motorsports. CHrysler has these & the short block 6.1 Hemi's on restriction so I am told. The parts guy at my dealership said that they called STAR & that I needed A vin of a damaged motor from a warranty car, pictures of the damage & signature of the owner!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THat's just NUTS!!!!!!!!!! Some dealerships must have had the fore thought to order some before they went on restriction OR my dealer is too small?????
Hope to have this turbo charged by the nationals if I am not on skid row $$$$$$$$$$

10.3:1 compression on a stock engine. The top ring lands are pretty weak for boost as well. Cam it up and enjoy your NA power. The motor can handle a 150 shot. When your ready for a boosted engine build or a stroker, keep me in mind.

10.3 comp

Post by V10nacuda »

Yeah that's what I thought too, but the shop that is doing most of it has done ALOT of stuff with the 4.6 ford mustang with alot of success.http://www.powerhouse411.com Their 4.6 with 16# of boost went 10.29 @136 & that was with a JUNK that clutch went through the traps at 8200, usually 6800 & that's with ALL STOCK MOTOR PARTS & a turbo! The 4.0 lived with 26# of boost once & made over 600ft lbs. It runs high 11's low 12's usually. The ring lands on that are probably alot worse than the HEMI.

You'll need to watch out for the tight ring gap as well. It's around .012", give or take. The 6.1 also has a positive deck of .015". Going boosted, I would file cut your rings to atleast .018" and install a set of .074" Cometic head gaskets to lower your compression ratio. Just my .02

My buddy who owns a tranny shop figured that it should be good for a tenth or better, he had a factory NEW chrysler one with zero miles & I got it for a song. That was part of the reason, I hope this holds up as well as the one he put into a SS duster that was dead nuts on all last season. He said if it breaks he will build a 518 for free & the valve body interchanges. So all that will have to be done is a different snout on the converter.

I hope you guys using totaled SRT's make your $ back. I know that the auto wreckers are asking HUGE money for the motors (and that was the cheapest). The one around here wanted $6k for one with 5000mi. I got my NEW one delivered for $5800.
