Superchargers

I want to install a supercharger. What all would have to be replaced and upgraded? I'm an amateur mechanic, and have done all work on truch thus far, would I be able to install SC system myself? Any experience or suggestions would help. Thanx.

1) It should not be too hard of a task to undertake.
2) We are still waiting for a SC to actually be sold.

I believe the hold up is cracking the PCM so that it
can be updated to accomodate the new air charge.
I dropped another message to KB to see what they
have to say about their progress. Not that they give
me any special attention/answers... :)

supercharger

I saw this on another site he makes a good point ?

" Yeah! I also called that written to them and all I get is the same reply as you did. I really think Dodge made a deal with them to hold " their product until the SRT-10 gets off the ground. If they released their SC, the sales of the SRT-10 would fall on their faces. This is nothing but a scam to see if the SRT-10 sells.
A computer chip in their hands should not be that hard to figure out. It;s all B-S

That is a pretty interesting theory, I could see that.
It would be hard to sell a $45K 500-hp Ram if there
is a $3K add-on for a $25K Ram to also get 500-hp.

There is a supercharged Hemi engine. It produces 430 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque, using the 5.7 Hemi engine and a Whipple supercharger, and was first shown in the Dodge Magnum SRT-8 concept. So the sytem and components are out there, now why can't I have one?
Thanks for the info...

Pvt_Hemi, Whipple tells me they currently do not have any
plans to develop a supercharger kit for the new 5.7L Hemi.

The "Chrysler Hemi Kits" that I think you might have found
are for the big crate motors. Check out their boat forsale:

http://www.whipplesuperchargers.com/con ... ?pageID=72

Do not forget there was a 600-hp turbo 5.7 Hemi at SEMA:

http://www.thehemi.com/news.php?id=20031119-2

DCX obviously knows what the Hemi owners want to see.
I would just love to find out why they are holding back all
of the real goodies. SRT-10 sales is the best theory so far.

supercharger: true or false?

"In January 2003, the public saw the first supercharged Hemi engine ever officially produced by Chrysler. It produces 430 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque, using the 5.7 Hemi engine and a Whipple supercharger, and was first shown in the Dodge Magnum SRT-8 concept. "

I just got my reply from Whipple. So, there are no plans for the 5.7 L Hemi, you were right. I guess I will just wait. Thanks for the info.

supercharger

People say if your going to spend the farm on a supercharger get a KBell unit . While there are other quailty manufactures out there.. the twin screw unit from KBell will produce the most bang for the buck..thats if they ever finish the damm thing !! One last thing down in Las Vegas they now have Hemi Ram Quadcab cruisers for god sake..they are looking to have them supercharged as well
here's a look http://www.copcar.com/month.htm

i have had the opportunity to drive the srt10, nice machine but id bet money on a supercharged hemi to win a drag race. doesnt feel anything like 500 hp! doesnt even feel like 400! and as far as a charger-i cant believe these companies are claiming not to have any plans to build one for the hemi. it is by far the biggest engine launch the truck market has seen since the direct injected powerstroke.

Here is some interesting information...

http://thesuperchargerconnection.com/

They are selling a Paxton supercharger kit for the HEMI.
NOVI 1200 -- 1201220 (Satin) and 1201220-P (Polished).

The odd thing is that Paxton does not list these part #s.
But the part #s are very close to the latest Dodge units.
So I'm curious if Paxton is slow to update their website,
or if the above shop is listing the product before it really
becomes available. I emailed Paxton for more info.

Paxton tells me they are 1-2 months out still (of course).
So the website selling them must be collecting pre-orders
or just trying to get some free website traffic.

If the "upto 45% increase" claim ends up being the truth,
that means the 5.7 HEMI would get bumped upto 500-hp!
(That is crank horsepower... not rear-wheel horsepower.)
