Hemi heads - D5

Post by hugh james » Mon Dec 08, 2003 8:18 pm

I am building a hemi for a boat - an SK - not for racing - like a boat street rod. A life long dream. I gurantee you if there are two boats side by side and one has a hemi and the other something else - the crowd will be around the Hemi!!! I have a pair of D5 heads and am told they are quite valuable. I know they were never used in a vehicle (production). I had a valve job done by Champion Racing heads, with 7 NEW Donovan 2.350 valves. Now I wonder if using these heads is the right thing to do. One set of plug holes are plugged to use only one plug per chamber. Are these heads trouble? Am I better off with a new set of Iron heads and selling these? this is my first hemi although I have built and raced many a Chevrolet/Pontiac and some Fords. the Chevvys were just too much more affordable, but the guy who ruled the roost was building Hemi's!!! and driving like no tomorrow.
