276 and 331 the same block?

276 and 331 the same block?

Does anyone know if the 276 hemi out of a '53 dodge desoto is the same block as a 331 hemi? Is the 331 just bored out, or are they completely different blocks? Thanks

276 hemi

The 276 is a desoto hemi. Desoto engines are stand alone hemis in that they have no common parts interchange with dodge or chrysler. The 331 is a chrysler. Hope this helps.
