Ok .. I am new here and luv HEMI horsepower...
I got a couple buddies with a disagreement.. I am not getting into it.. (until I know the answer :D )
One says that the Hemi was owed by a different auto Manufacure in the 70's or 80's... course other one says he is full of.... well anyway..
can anybody help me be the smart one here... :D :D :lol:

yep the hemi design was owned by toyota for awhile. They made an aluminum Hemi

thats the only one i know about so far

I think the Mitsubishi 2.6 that was the optional motor in the K cars of the early eighties was a Hemi. I seem to remember K cars running around with HEMI plaques on the side thinking it was a joke.

All of this is true. The hemispherical head design is not patented or owned by any one manufacture. Chrysler as had a knack for marketing it in the 50's, 60's and today. Chrysler (now DC) does own the word "HEMI" as a trademark. My uncle had a Dodge Aries K with one of those 2.6 liter mitsu HEMIs in it. Leave it to Iacocca and crew for putting "HEMI" on a K car.
