Re: Petty Hemi
it looks like a production hemi from 1966 .that year having no VIN stamped on them stops us from knowing what model or body style it in came
R.L.24 68330-2 this is a Standard Hemi number used on all Hemi blocks cast from 1964-71
8-16-65 actual casting date
on block by base of distributor/dist. clamp:
BH/426 1-7-10
the B is the year code 1966 installed in a 1966 body
1- The first number is the month
7- The second number is the day of the month
10- The third number is the build sequence for that day. This example engine was the 10th built
(with a weird shaped cross next to it)
that's Maltese cross signifying a .001 undersized crankshaft
if the cross is follow by the letter X then it has a .010 undersized crank
other details: has a 1x4 alloy rough, painted intake manifold
this can be a single four NASCAR intake for short track racing. the other style is known as the bathtub in which the carb sits down in a tub rather than normal height like a conventional intake

Re: Petty Hemi
thanks for the info!! also, last time the oil pan was off, one of the cylinders had been sleeved, don't know if that's important or not.

If it's got a sleeved cylinder, the engine was run at
one time, hurt and then repaired. It wouldn't have
come from the factory with a sleeved cylinder.
