Meet the World’s Quickest Naturally Aspirated HEMI Ram

This 2016 Ram 1500 covers the quarter mile in just 11.98 seconds without forced induction.

The newest Ram 1500 pickups are among the strongest and hardest-working half-ton trucks sold in America, but the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 also makes them surprisingly quick. As one owner has proven, the half-ton pickup can be transformed into an 11-second quarter mile machine with fairly simple modifications and a good driver.

The World’s Quickest NA Hemi Truck

The black 2016 Ram 1500 in the videos shown here is owned and driven by Kyle Tingle and it is the quickest naturally aspirated, 5.7-liter-powered truck in the world. As you can see in these clips, this half-ton pickup has run a best time of 11.987 at 110 miles per hour – figures that have not been challenged by a comparable truck.

While running 11s in a half-ton truck is impressive, what is even more impressive is the length of the Tingle’s mod list. His Hemi truck has an SRP ported throttle body, Stainless Works 1.75-inch longtube headers, no catalytic convertors, a 170-degree thermostat, an ATI underdrive pulley, exhaust cutouts and a clutch fan delete. Of course, the engine has been tuned by Greene Racing to make the most of those simple modifications.

On top of the power-adding modifications, this Ram 1500 also has a Circle D 2500 stall convertor and Hoosier slicks mounted on 17-inch wheels. It should also be noted that this Ram has the factory 8-speed automatic transmission.

In short, this Ram 1500 has a larger throttle body, headers, no cats, a high-stall converter, sticky tires and a tune – and it ran an 11.987 with a touch of the “good driver mod.”

The Record Run

The videos above and below come to us from the Texas Hemi Performance YouTube channel and both show Tingle’s record run, one from the in-car camera and one from trackside. After a careful burnout process, he pulled his Hemi-powered pickup into the staging beams and when the green light dropped, this Ram rockets down the track.

In the eighth mile, this Ram ran a 7.575 at 90.1 miles per hour and on the top end, Tingle stopped the timers at 11.987 at 110.33 miles per hour. That is the quickest quarter mile time by any naturally aspirated Ram with the 5.7-liter engine.

Crank up your speakers and enjoy!
This gives me hope that my Crew Cab can get some reasonable times, too. :)
