I'm setting up my 55 Chrysler for a hillclimb in Colorado. The car has a 331 Hemi,700r4, tire size is 265/70/15 the car now weighs about 4000lbs I'm thinkin 4:11 or 4:56 in an 8 3/4 I would guess the car is making around 300 HP at 4500 RPM but the peak torque is arond 3000 RPM any ideas?

I'd have thought that your best going wih a set of 4:10's, depending upon what diameter rear wheels your using.
You've got the overdrive with the GM 'box so you shouldn't hve any real problems cruising. What's the first gear on the four-speed auto now ? If it's a steep one (3.00:1 ?) 4:10's might be too much.
Can you dig out any articles on the cars used in the day for rallying/Pan Americana ?

Mike  :-?
