Former nostalgia FC driver Garrett Bateman tells the Agent that he set a record at the Bonneville Salt Flats his first time out last week in AABGC.

Bateman got the record of 222.788 mph on his final A license pass. The previous record was 211.

“The interesting part is that I took the record from Mark Weiler who was a Top Fuel car owner of the Fluke dragster that I used to work for in the late 1990's,” Bateman says. “Kinda funny ‘cause it seems I have a habit of taking championships and records from my previous employers such as Bucky Austin and the FC championship! “

The brand new car is owned by Paul Ogden and was designed by Denton Hollifield of Redding, CA. The motor is a Tom Nelson Racing Engines 526 Keith Black Hemi with twin 88mm turbos built by John Beck. Future plans are to wind tunnel the car over the winter and go for 250 mph at Speedweek next August.

“Oh, and by the way,” Bateman adds,” I'm still trying for a seat in a nostalgia FC.”
Nothing like going 220+ MPH in a '69 Barracuda! :D
