Another Bonneville Speed Weeks, another record for Lee Sicilio's "Twilight Zone" Dodge Charger Daytona, thanks to its Ray Barton-built Race Hemi.

Lee Sicilio, driving his "Twilight Zone" 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, elevated the A/Blown Gas Altered (A/BGALT) class record at this year's Bonneville Speed Weeks. It's the 12th class record he's set on the Salt with a Ray Barton Race Engines-built Hemi since 2000.

His clocking of 273.514 miles per hour blew away the prior A/BGALT record by over 16 mph.

Sicilio, from Fort Worth, Texas, said “Our fastest trap speed of 283+ mph occurred at the five-mile marker. Though the air was pretty bad with a density altitude in the 6,500 to 7,000 foot range, I ran a 2.00:1 rear end ratio with a 1:1 fifth gear in the transmission on my last run. This was the only record we attempted this year.”

Ray Barton Race Engines completed Sicilio’s 498-inch Race Hemi earlier this year. “Since about 2000, I’ve been running Ray Barton engines, and in that time we have succeeded in capturing 12 world land speed records."

That's a fast '69 Charger :)
