Protoype BigBlock wedge engine by Weslake UK

Post by HemiHatchard »

Hi Hemi Folks.
Hemi engines are such a beautiful thing indeed!
Dual purpose for Nascar and Drag racing.
Which leads me on to the unfortunate banning of the wonderful 426 hemi in Nascar...
Here in the UK we were given the job at Weslake Engineering to develop a new Wedge head for the 426 engine.
Now known as the 'W2' smallblock head it was first designed for the BigBlocks!
Believed cast in the USA and sent to England for further development.
Due to ever changing Nascar rules in the early 70's, it got shelved as did so many other Mopar Motors.

Hi again hemi Folks.
The 440 Weslake engine is a complete Dyno engine that I still have here, that was cast in September1969.
Hemi shortened rods with six-pack pistons and crankshaft.
Ovalport heads with 2.250 intakes, 1.80 exhausts and custom made rockers.
Racer brown solid cam with dual valve springs.
The odd thing is these are 'crossover' street heads and not like the earler 413/426 maxwedge heads.
Hemi Hatchard.
