PISTONS

Post by Moparlee »

Thanks for everbody replies on the PAW pistons. I was just tring to figure out how to get as close as possible with out ccing. I realize this may be kind of silly, but if they are advertised for 10.5 compression then I figures that the older head gaskets were probably thin steelies like maybe .025 to .028(?). Then I see what the new stuff his and shave of the heads or block to compensate. Anyway, 392heminut please pm me or post it for us. That would be some good information to know. By the way QEC thought that the orginal head gasket thickness was around .030 to .035 range. I think that Bob at Hot Heads thought the newer stuff are around .042 thousands thick. If I'm not mistaken. Thanks agian everbody.

Lee, I finally got around to c.c.'ing my engine and doing the math. The Felpro head gaskets after being used are .035 thick. My block has never been decked, and the PAW pistons protrude .155 above the deck. With the chambers on one head at 107 c.c.'s the compression ratio figures out to 9.5 to 1. The chambers on the other head are 109 c.c.'s and compression figures out to 9.3 to 1. These figures are based on the Felpro head gasket being used in the build. I figure I will have to mill the one head .040 and the other .050 to get into the 10.2-10.3 to range were I want to be.
