392& 727 trans setup

Post by jim d »

I'AM PLANNING ON INSTALING A 1977 TRUCK 727 AUTO TRANS TO A 392 HEMI TO GO IN THE 56 STUDERBAKER TRUCK I'AM BUILDING.THE TRANS # ARE PK3898864 5520470. THE TRANS HAS BEEN OVERHAULED A FEW YEARS AGO BUT NEVER RUN. IT CAME WITH AN ADPTER ,STOCK TORQUE CONVERTOR & FLEX PLATE. IS THIS A GOOD SETUP FOR THE STREET/ ANYTHING I SHOULD DO BEFORE I PUT IT TOGETHER

It should work just fine. I recommend getting the Lokar kickdown cable and bracket from Summit. That is what I used with the 392/727 in my Cuda. You do have to run a kickdown linkage with the torqueflite or the transmission will be damaged, unless the tranny has been set up for manual shift only.
