early hemi distributor internals same as Mallory?

Post by johnny5 »

The cap, inside and overall dimensions look the same as those available by Mallory. Does anybody know if Mallory dual-point parts can be used to service a 1955 331 distributor? I don't have a Mallory distributor to compare this with but I've been thinking about taking mine into the local speed shop and checking it out if no one on the board knows for sure.

they are not interchangeable, Mallory uses different components than Chrysler.

You may be able to get the entire dist converted if you want to rebuild that old dist. Cost would probably be more than a good used newer unit.

It's in nice shape so I'd like to freshen it up. I need a vacuum advance pot, points and condenser set and performance curve springs (new stock ones would do but something must fit). I guess I haven't been keeping track of time very well. I used to be able to get this kind of stuff at the local parts store. All they carry now is hongda trash. Any idea where I can buy parts for it?
