Hey everyone I'm new here & wanted to say hey. Looks like a great place to be.
A friend just bought a 392 block, crank & heads and is need of some parts for racing.
Oil pan for FED
Front cover for timing chain & cam driven fuel pump
Valve train parts racing shafts, adjustable intake rockers, aftermarket exhaust rockers like Stage V etc!, early style Engle or Isky camshaft for fuel.
This combo is going to be an injected N/A deal on 80-85% nitro & 2 speed glide. All my experience is with late model stuff for Top Alcohol racing.
Do you think stock rebuilt exhaust rockers would handle the cylinder pressure of nitro?
This combo is not going to be set on kill to set any nostalgia VRA records, just to have fun.
Post back, e-mail or PM with parts you know of or have for sale & any suggestions.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Spring pressures will break ex rocker arms. Spring pressures will bend stock shafts. Tool steel are stronger.
M2R just got old iron heads to flow over 400CFM also.
Start with the oiling system, these guys have the best oiling and strongest rockers for early Hemis.
If you want to break records you may want to look at Donovan blocks and heads.

to put a record setting fuel motor together you could spend 20K-40K-60K or more, easily.

That more or less dictates the level of parts needed to keep a motor together. You must of missed that.

Going to use all quality parts. This combo is going to be based on a mid 1960's tune up. Compression will be around 9:1, .600 lift cam etc!
Just wondering if rebuilt stock rockers w/adjusters, new racing shafts & stands would work?
I have helped build and tune Top Alcohol Dragster & Funny Car engines using TFX blocks, BAE-5 heads, dual disk clutches, Lenco trans etc! Just don't know anything about early 392 stuff. Trying to help a friend out to find parts.
Thanks

"Compression will be around 9:1" ?? Boost it ....those are low numbers, need more to make nitro happily burn.

I will go a little further and point out all the weak areas needing attention.
The exhaust rocker arm is the weak link, when spring pressures get over 500 they have a tendency to break. Many tried to bridge them for strength. The stock type shafts also have a tendency to flex (not good).
Titans' roller rocker arms and tool steel shafts will eliminate the valve train from breaking. It is also lighter and you will be able to go 600 plus with no problems. Gotha made some real strong rocker arms but they are hard to find and are 40 year old technology. Set them up on 55 or 56 heads and that is about as good as can be had.
To Oil the system, Milodon or Titan have have extremely high volume and adjustable oil pumps that will keep everything bathed in oil. Titan is by far the best. You will need a custom oil pan to fit the Titan.
Henry Velasco can set you up with a 392 fuel crank that will take the nitro. He has anything from 3.5 to 4.5 inch arms.
Hold it in with a 4 bolt the bottom end, Milodon makes the strongest caps. Stud it all the way around, Milodon or ARP.
Lots of guys tied the main caps to the block rails with steel girdles to reinfrce the bottom end further. Straping the caps together does very little, the reinforcement has to be bolted solidly to the block rails.
Find a block with no cracks, sleeve all 8 cylinders, convert to full flow oiling, fit and install a gear drive for the cam (again Milodon is rock solid), cleanance for and crank throws or larger aluminum rods, and fill it. Add the 4 bolt caps and girdle and that will give you the strongest block.
Do it this way and you will only have to do it once.
This should get you started.
