Engine Dressup Clearcoat?

Post by NE57 »

I'd like to have satin finish aluminum dressup parts. I especially like the PAW finned classic look. But with roaddirt they'd get pretty crudded up and tranished. Q... is there an effective, durable, heat resistant clearcoat for raw aluminum engine parts?

Polished is nice but for this car I want a strictly business look. Gloss black cast iron, satin black engine bay, raw aluminum trim.

You can get clear powdercoat in gloss or satin finish.

And I see the powder guns are not too expensive. I could have fun with that.

Eastwood has pretty good prices on that stuff, but you have to make sure you have an oven big enough to hold the parts you will be doing without touching the sides, as the powder is easily wiped off before it's baked on. I wouldn't suggest using the wife's oven either!
