Hello,
I'm considering picking up a '28 Ford Roadster with a '56 331 Hemi. I don't know a whole lot about early Hemi motors/carb's, aside from a few details I've found on the interwebs. I'm hoping you guys can help me identify the carbs in the pictures below, and answer some questions i have about the setup.
The Engine # stamped on the block is VT-448 – 1749C. There is a tag on the Rocker Arm covers that states Remanufactured in Calgary Alberta Chrysler method Model 981 – 1749 Mains Std. Bore 3 13/16 or 15/16 060 Rods Std. Date 23 11 62
The carbs appear to have been manufactured by Carter "Ball & Ball", and show some signs of leaking. Should the carbs and/or the motor need to be rebuilt, do you guys know if parts are easy to find?

2X1 truck intake & carbs. Somewhere on this board is a Thread on putting 2 2GC carbs on this intake

I see a chevy W/P out front, engine has probably been "up dated". Go to www.jalopyjournal.com then click on the HAMB. Enter "Hemi Tech Index" in search & start reading. Parts aren't cheap, but Hot Heads, T R Waters, Quality Engineered Components, and Rock Auto are sources for parts.

As I said, it's a 2X1 truck intake found on 331/354 truck hemis.flynnstone wrote:Thanks guys. What intake is this?

Same intake as mine. This one came off a D700 Fire truck. I adapted two General Motors 2GC carburetors on it. They are 350 CFM each.
