392 crank in a 354

Post by dodgedifferent2 »

would a 392 crankshaft fit in a 354 in order to have more storke in the 354.. i plan on boring my engine 0.04 to get a few more cubes but i also want to have a longer stroke to make more cubes. I have heard of someone doing it and i was wondering what they would have to do in order for it to fit...i could go and buy a 392 crank and see what i could do buy that may be a lil exspensive for my ideas so i thouhgt maybe somoene on this forum would have a good idea how to get it done..

thanks in advance

You will also need to cut the rear main seal surface to 331-354 size, along with having the counterweights turned down. Its a very expensive way to get a few more cubes. I know. It would actually be less expensive to start with a 392, even for what you would have to pay for one.

why would i make a chevy small block stroked up....that would make a belly button....*everyone is doing it* and besides its MOPAR or NO CAR......i dont think i could deal with the fact that i had a chevy engine in my car.....i thinhk it would kill my father to see me playin with chevy's........and besides we all know that the HEMI is the way to go when u want to see HP otherwise i would just ride a horse!!!!!!!

You will notice that the crank on ebay is a welded up and offset ground 331-354 crank, not a 392 crank. :o

392 Crank in 354

Post by CFVWD »

I put a set of 392 pistons in a 354 once and that engine worked great all you have to do is bore the 354 out to 392 bore and install the pistons.
The block on the 392 is taller and uses longer rods.
hope this hslps
