BBDO, which turned rap star Snoop Dogg into a pitchman for the Chrysler 300 and turned an inanimate hunk of metal – the Hemi engine – into a separate brand, will close its Troy and Windsor offices in late January, after Chrysler and the agency decided to go separate ways.
The agency, which employs about 485 at its West Long Lake Road office, is owned by Omnicom Group. It has produced advertising and marketing brochures, trained dealers and provided other services to Chrysler since 1944.
When Chrysler filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection April 30, BBDO was listed as one of its largest creditors. Chrysler owed it $58.1 million.
