Chrysler Unveils 2010 300 S6 and S8 Sedans, Special Edition Models for Detroit
http://wot.motortrend.com/6608507/auto- ... index.html
Although the 300 S6 and 300 S8 are mostly trim packages, Chrysler says both cars have upgraded suspension, steering, shocks, and "performance brake lining." The engines are unchanged: a 250-hp 3.5L V-6 powers the S6 while a 360-hp 5.7L Hemi V-8 is the heart of the 300 S8. Both vehicles will be available in the spring.
This whole Fiat takeover (or giveaway, depending on your view) has me very confused.
Chrysler PDFs show the 2010 300 and 300C as we've come to know them. The Chrysler
website only has a 6-cyl 300 shown. And now there's reports of a 300 S6 and 300 S8 in
the works? I cannot keep up with the changes they're making lately.

I suppose the purpose is to make the nameplate seem more "European".
Although to me it sounds more like they're ripping off names from Audi.

So much for classic American heritage, huh?

I guess we should be lucky that they're still offering a model with a HEMI.

I think the wheels are ugly and absolutely
ridiculous looking - more like somthing
that would be at home on a circa 1800's
horse-drawn farm wagon than on a 21st
century car! But I guess the wheels and
tires can changed easily enough. I suspect
with these 'special edition' models, that
Chrysler is merely trying to use up their
existing tooling and parts supply and
squeeze as much as they can out of them
until the rebadged "FIAT disguised as Chrysler"
pseudo-cars start coming on stream in
mid-to-late-2010 and 2011. If anyone still has
a job in this economy and enough money or
credit for a new car and wants a Hemi, I'd
suggest they get one now because the
writing's on the wall :(
