Ram might be hinting at a Hellcat-powered Rebel
Now that's a truck we'd love to drive
http://www.motortrend.com/news/ram-migh ... red-rebel/
When Ram showed up to the 2016 State Fair of Texas, it brought along one of the coolest concepts we’d seen in a long time, the Rebel TRX Concept. Designed for high-speed off-roading, the Rebel TRX looked more than ready to take on the Ford F-150 Raptor. Even better, it packed a 575-hp supercharged V-8 that was essentially a detuned Hellcat engine. But even though the Rebel TRX was never intended to go into production, our dreams of a Hellcat-powered pickup truck might not be dead just yet.

As Allpar points out, it looks like the 2019 Ram 1500 borrows several of its design cues from the TRX Concept, especially the new Ram Rebel. Some are more subtle, like the kink in the rear doors and the badge on the steering wheel, but it’s hard to miss TRX’s influence on the Rebel’s new hood.

Still, that’s only proof that Ram didn’t completely forget about the TRX Concept when it was designing the new 1500. The actual hints that there’s a Hellcat-powered Ram Rebel on the way required digging a little bit deeper. As Allpar points out, if you zoom way in on the official press photo for the Ram Rebel’s interior, the clock is set to 7:07, just like the Hellcat’s 707 hp. Considering Fiat Chrysler’s history of hiding hints or Easter eggs in the teaser images for the Dodge Challenger Demon, we wouldn’t put it past Ram to have hidden a little clue in the Rebel’s press photos.

Of course, while Allpar claims to also have an anonymous inside source that confirms the Hellcat-powered Ram Rebel is under development, the biggest clue might be Fiat Chrysler’s history of shoehorning big engines into every vehicle it can. In a world where Dodge offers a Durango SRT, Jeep has both a Grand Cherokee SRT and a Trackhawk, and you can get both the Charger and Challenger in Hellcat form, it might be more surprising if Ram never builds a 707-hp Rebel.
Maybe we can finally get a Ram SRT. Although I would prefer a street-based version instead of offroad.

FCA Reportedly Working On Bored-Out, 7.0L Hemi V8 For Ram Rebel TR
http://fcauthority.com/2018/10/fca-repo ... -rebel-tr/
By now, we’ve all likely heard about Ram’s forthcoming Hellcat-powered Ram Rebel TRX, but rumor has it that another intriguing iron-block V8 is heading to the Ram Rebel line. According to numerous publications, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is working on a big, 7.0-liter-displacement Hemi V8 codenamed “Banshee”, with plans to drop the new motor into a lesser Rebel model called the “Ram Rebel TR”. A Ram test mule spied recently may have been carrying that exact engine, according to Motor1, as it had a unique exhaust note, and extra frame rail supports stretching back to the rear doors to handle the added thrust.

The idea for a Ram Rebel TRX first surfaced in 2016, when FCA debuted the truck as a 575-horsepower concept, drawing on the supercharged, 6.2L Dodge SRT Hellcat engine for power. It was since confirmed for production, and according to the automaker, it’ll arrive by 2022. The idea of the Ram Rebel TR is comparatively new, however. It’s expected to slot in below the Rebel TRX in the lineup, packing something like 520 horsepower and 525 lb-ft of torque, courtesy of the aforementioned 7.0L Banshee V8.

For comparison’s sake, the current Ram Rebel has a hearty 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque at its beck and call, via FCA’s 5.7L Hemi V8. Those are by no means unimpressive figures, although they’re bested by the Ford F-150 Raptor’s 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft.

According to Motor1, there is a possibility that FCA might differentiate the Ram Rebel TR and Rebel TRX by making the TR the off-road-oriented Raptor-fighter, and the TRX a high-powered, high-performance street truck, but that’s as impossible to corroborate as the very existence of the 7.0L “Banshee” itself. And that’s important to keep in mind; these are, for now, nothing more than unconfirmed rumors.

Stay tuned for more on the rumored Ram Rebel TR and its Hellcat-powered counterpart as it develops.

Interesting comments about possibly seeing the TR as off-road and the TRX as street.
I would prefer to see a high performance "street" truck, like those old Ram SRT10 days!

Ram 1500 TRX spied with remote-reservoir shocks and supercharger whine
https://www.autoblog.com/2019/03/21/ram ... ercharger/
The highly anticipated Ram 1500 TRX, Ram's Ford F-150 Raptor rival, has been spied again. And the big news is all in the suspension. Compared with the last prototype we saw, this truck sits much higher, and it now has fender flares to cover the wider track. It looks like some of the extra width may be from slightly bigger tires and higher offset wheels. But those might not be the only factors. Looking closely, the rear wheels have eight lug nuts versus six on the front. The previous prototype had six lugs on the rear. So this version may have a beefier rear axle, maybe from the Ram 2500. That axle may be a bit wider.

The suspension itself is clearly farther along, too. Up front, there are some burly looking lower control arms. But in the back, any suspension reinforcements are long gone, and the axle seems to be supported by equally beefy trailing arms. Most exciting are what appear to be fancy remote reservoir off-road shocks tucked in the rear wheel arches. They're covered by little black sacks to hide them. The Rebel TRX concept from a few years ago featured internal-bypass shocks, and the Ford F-150 Raptor features the same kind of shocks. That Ram TRX concept also had 13 inches of suspension travel at each corner.

Besides the updated suspension, we're pleased to report that the TRX is still rocking Hellcat power. Our spy photographer tells us that there's very audible supercharger whine. He also caught the truck on video, and it sounds gravelly and angry. We're very much looking forward to the truck's launch, which should be sometime before 2022.
Come on, Ram, release this beast already.
