.060 over?

Post by joe864 »

For a while now, I've been wondering, what does this mean? Is it where the motor is punched out? From what I've seen on other site's, a .060 over 426 Hemi ended up as a 477ci. Can someone fill me in about this?

.060

.060 is how much of an oversize,in thousands of an inch, the cylender bore is. Check the "calculator" section of this site. To get a 426 out to 477 you would have to increase the stroke(distance crank turns) to get that big. Most engines are limited to about .040 for street use, thou some blocks can go .125 Unused 331s with no internal rusting on bores& no core shift in casting can go that big.
