71 street hemi dist vacuum advance

Post by rayno511 »

Hi,
I want to replace a MALLORY UNILITE with a MOPAR ELECTRONIC DIST
and I need to know if my AUTOMATIC 71 CHARGER R/T ORIGINALLY HAD A VACCUUM ADVANCE.
A VACCUUM DIAGRAM WOULD BE HELPFUL.
WHERE IS THE DIST. VACCUUM SOURCE LOCATED?
ARE THERE ANY MODULES IN THE VAC CIRCUIT (DELAY OR ETC?)
PLEASE DIRECT ME TO OTHER SOURCES OF INFO IF UNABLE TO HELP.
THANKS, RAYNO511

The stock Street Hemi distributor
had a vacuum advance.It would
have received it's vacuum signal
- "ported vacuum" as opposed to
manifold vacuum by the way
- from a port on one of the carbs,
just above the throttle plates I'm
not sure which carb (probably
the primary side of the back
carbuetor) or exactly where the
port is located, or what other
devices the Federal Emission
NAZIs forced Chrysler to put in
the vacuum line to delay or
restrict the vacuum advance. A
Chrysler shop manual, or even a
Chilton's book available in any
public library for the appropriate
year, would show you a diagram
and a parts list.
