That sure is an early casting date on the block. I have seen earlier casting number on other hemi parts for the 1964 hemi build as early as August. I was under the impression that these early block were prone to failure. The Nascar stories say that the blocks failed under testing at around 400 miles so they would not last in a 500 miles Nascar Race. I believe Chrysler recast the block for the Daytona 500 from Feb. 10 to 13 1964 and these block were used in the race. These new block were heavy wall poured blocks.
