341 Fireflite

Post by vanchopski »

Hello there. I'm looking at getting an S26 341 hemi out of a 57 Desoto. The engine is rated at 296 hp stock. My intention is to put it into my 1950 Dodge 2-door fastback.
Just looking for general info on these engines such as problems they had or any downside. I have heard that there weren't many perfromance parts made for them which is fine considering they put out 295 hp stock. I'm guessing that it wouldn't take long though before I get the urge to bump up the performance a bit.

Anyway, what's the general consensus on how good these engines are?

Thanks.

DeSotos in generall didn't have much speed stuff made for them, & usually the most exspensive of the three brands. Assuming the 341 still has the stock 4 bl, you are way ahead of most DeSoto owners. Check Hot heads for parts.
