Pushrod lengt 291 hemi

Post by EatMyRam »

Hi

I am looking for new pushrods to my 291 hemi (desoto 1955)
Intake is 8.8 and exhaust is 10.11" on my engine.
Called Kanter, but they claim that the exhaust should be 11.5".
Mine is not.

Were can I find the correct ones for my engine?

Your measurments are correct for late 53-55 276 and 291 engines. I just sold a set on ebay so maybe you could find a set there. Good luck :D

Get a set of checking pushrods from Manton.
Install the valve train and adjust the pushrods to the length you need,
Send the adjusted checkers to Manton and have a set made.

If anything was taken off the heads and or block stock stuff will not be the correct length, and the Mantons will be stronger.

Thanks for your answers.

I ordered a set of adjustable chrome-moly pushrods from hothemiheads.com.

That is one way to accomplish it, way more expensive and 7 times more difficult though.

Well, actually cheaper than Kanter. Payed $150
And..I adjust the length on all pushrods before I mount them.
Should not be a big problem I think.

Set of Manton pushrods run 107 and no adjusting necessary, adjusters to get correct length are 6 each.

I've never heard of Manton before. How long have they been around?
