Spark plug tubes with adjustable rockers

Post by PCalaguiro »

I would like to know what the spark plug tubes look like on a Dodge hemi with adjustable rockers. All my non-adjustable intake rockers are machined to clear the spark plug tubes and I am curious to know how the factory handled this issue. I would like to convert to adjustables but think I may be opening a can of worms.
Thanks for any help in this matter.

The factory Dodge adjustables use the same spark plug tubes. The adjustment part of the rocker arms are forged at a different angle than the non adjustables. The adjustment screws are also at an angle so that they have the clearance for the tubes, but maintain the same effective ratio.
Tube clearance is why the conversion companies put the adjusting screw on the valve end of the Dodge arms.

Dodge hemi adjustable rockers

Tom,
If the rockers are angled to miss the tubes, is the configuration anything to be concerned about at high rpms? I shift at 6800rpm and would be concerned if the pushrods did not come straight up from the lifters. Also, having an adjuster screw on the valve stem doesn't seem to be a very good idea, although I could be wrong about that. If memory serves, do you not fabricate a special tube to suit an adjustable intake rocker in the same configuration as the non-adjustable?
Please let me know. I want Rocker Arm Specialists to convert my rockers but I am not fussy about having the adjustment on the intake rockers on the valve side.

Rocker Arms..

Hello..I had Rocker Arms Specialty do mine adjust ables for my 241 Red Ram Dodge Hemi..Don't need adjustable push rods, need to do some measuring to get the right push rod length.. Let them know what length you need and they make them for you..
I will say, they do great work..
Duane..
ps..I had my adjust ables modified, only needed to do the exhaust rockers so I could use the original Embossed Red Ram Dodge valve covers..No dimples..

Duane,
What did you do with the intake rockers? Did they put the adjuster on the valve stem side?
How did you modify the rockers to use the standard covers?
Please let me know.

Hello...The intake rockers don't need modification, they don't rise up high enough to hit the valve cover..
email me at....... hannah1935@sbcglobal.net and I'll send you pictures..
