Petty’s Garage and Heide Performance Products, HPP, are partnering to build the Petty Superbird/Dodge Daytona. The high performance engines are co-developed and engineered by Arrington Performance located in Martinsville, VA. Nose and rear wing assembly designed and engineered by HPP, will be installed at HPP’s shop based in Madison Heights, MI. All high performance engine upgrades, (600hp -800+hp), will take place in the historic Petty shop in Level Cross, NC. Customer orders are currently being taken with a limit of 25 builds based upon the current production run.

The plan to build 25 Petty Superbird/Dodge Daytona vehicles is the beginning of the most exciting vehicle look, design and power combinations to date. Last year Petty’s Garage offered 43 sequentially numbered Richard Petty Signature Series vehicles (replacing the #13 with #67 ) for sale to the public that are currently being built and sold today. Petty’s Garage will produce the 200 Win Signature Series vehicles releasing the next 50 models spring of 2011.

“This is something that’s special in so many ways,” says “The King,” Richard Petty. “For us to be a part of bringing such history back into today’s late model high performance vehicles, is a really fun deal. The guys who buy these cars will love them because we’ve built them to bite! Everyone tells me I have racing in my veins, and I do; and it’s fun to see this department at Petty’s Garage expanding and doing new things. Having lots of horsepower is what it’s about and our guys hook it up for the results our customers are looking for, the best is yet to come!”

For 2011 in addition to the Signature Series, Petty’s Garage will be releasing Petty Challengers, Petty Chargers, and Several Limited Build Packages. The Superbird and Daytona series will be based on the Dodge Challenger SRT or R/T platform, and will be highly modified to meet the performance standards that have been set by Richard for this vehicle. The 5.7, 6.1 and 6.4 HEMI’s will be offered with a Magnuson Supercharger which will boost overall power to over 600bhp – 800+bhp. The high performance engine will also receive internal high performance upgrades in the form of custom designed forged pistons, connecting rods and forged crankshaft in order to withstand the 9+lbs of boost from the supercharger.

“We are so enthusiastic about taking this next step in our partnership with Richard and Petty’s-Garage” said Eric Hruza, President and CEO of Arrington Performance. “Arrington and the Pettys have been making power together since the beginning, and this new 426 embodies that heritage. There is nothing like the torque and throttle response you get with big displacement, naturally aspirated V8.” Eric went on to say. “Capable of producing more than 620 SAE HP without a power adder, and over 800 HP if the owner chooses the Magnuson. This motor truly takes up were the second generation HEMI left off. Today’s Superbird will actually have better straight line performance than the car of yesteryear and handling Richard could only dream about then.”

The Petty Superbird/Dodge Daytona suspension will have a Petty’s Garage spec kit including adjustable coliovers and anti-roll bars manufactured by Pedders, a Hurst shifter, along with Brembo’s huge Gran Turismo brakes front & rear, set off by Pirelli Tires on Forgeline Three piece wheels and a complete performance fluids package from Valvoline.

“When HPP set out to create the Superbird and Daytona models, we of course were inspired by the winged warriors of our youth and Richard Petty was the most significant and influential driver we all looked up to and rooted for on Sundays. It is therefore very exciting for HPP to be partnering with The King and Petty’s Garage on this unique set of vehicles and we hope to continue our efforts with more offerings in the future,” said Gordon Heidacker, President & CEO of HPP.

The Petty Superbird/Dodge Daytona will be based on any 2011 SRT, R/T or 2010 pre-qualified car. The cost of the base Petty Superbird and Dodge Daytona Package starts at $36,900, not including the cost of the vehicle. It will be available through Petty’s Garage and other select authorized dealers.
