Win or Fail? ’50 Jeep Rod SEMA 2012

Guys have attempted to make old body style Jeeps into hot rods and usually they look horrible. Remove a few panels, lower it and call it a hot rod — but it’s not. This is not that. This is Jesse Spade’s home built Jeep Rod. And it’s gotta Hemi!

Jesse of Fortec Atalanta, was building this ’50 CJ-3A rod as a fun project when the off road company Omix-Ada spotted it an fell in love, they brought Jesse and the Jeep to SEMA 2012. Powered by a 5.7L late model Hemi engine topped with the 6.1L injectors, intake, and valve springs to handle the “stupid” cam according to Jesse. “It’s a fun little noise maker,” said Jesse who cut the header pipes out of the flange, turned them upside down and backwards and welded them back in. Gibson hooked him up with its sand rail muffler and the rest of the pipping.

The front fenders were made from two fenders put together and they’re 7 inches longer than stock. The window frame the only thing original left on the Jeep although that was heavily re-worked with a 12-inch chop and reshaped center. The aluminum body is aftermarket and left bare.

The front runners are late-model Mustang spare wheels wrapped in M&H front runner tires. The rear are original American Racing Outlaws also with M&H street slicks.
I dig it. :)
